HMWSSB Warns Public Against Fake Water Tankers Using Official Logo

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has seized a private water tanker for illegally using its official logo and has registered a criminal case against the operator.
Moreover, officials said the action is part of a wider crackdown on unauthorised water supply operations across the city.
Misuse of logo to mislead consumers
According to officials, several private tanker operators are using the Board’s logo without permission. As a result, they falsely present themselves as government-approved service providers.
Therefore, the Board warned that such acts are illegal and mislead the public into trusting unregulated suppliers.
Book only through official channels
Meanwhile, the Board has advised residents to book water tankers only through its official customer care service by calling 155313. This way, consumers can ensure access to safe and treated drinking water.
In addition, officials noted that unauthorised tankers create confusion, as people may assume the supply is part of official services.
Health risks from untested water
Furthermore, HMWSSB warned that private tankers usually source water from borewells. They do not treat or test this water as per Board standards.
Hence, officials cautioned that consuming such water may pose serious health risks.
Strict enforcement and public vigilance
Meanwhile, Managing Director Ashok Reddy has directed officials to intensify inspections and take strict action against violators. At the same time, teams are carrying out regular monitoring to prevent misuse of the Board’s name and logo.
Finally, the Board urged citizens to report any unauthorised use of its logo to the nearest office or concerned authorities.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy, HMWSSB said it will continue strict enforcement to curb illegal practices and protect public interest.
