HMWSSB official netted by ACB for demanding bribe for water connections

HMWSSB Official Bribe Arrest

Manikonda: The sleuths of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) trapped an official of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) along with another outsourcing employee on Tuesday. The accused official was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.

Going further into details, on Tuesday at 4 PM, Spoorthy Reddy, Manager of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), Division-18, Marrichettu Junction, Manikonda, Hyderabad was caught by ACB, Hyderabad City Range -2 Unit when she demanded and accepted bribe amount Rs 30,000 through Naveen Goud, Outsourcing employee in Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), Division-18, Marrichettu Junction, Manikonda, Hyderabad.

The tainted official demanded bribe from the complainant Bommu Upendranath Reddy resident of Manikonda, for showing official favour – “for the process and issuance of two New Water connections for the newly constructed buildings of the Complainant at Plot. 271, Neknampur Village, Gandipet Mandal, Manikonda Municipality, belongs to H.No. 6-1-26, Plot.No. 26, Venkateswara Colony, Neknampur, Gandipet mandal, Manikonda Municipality”. The Accused officers thereby performed their public duty improperly and dishonestly.

The bribe amount was recovered from the Naveen Goud at his instance. Both hand fingers of Goud yielded positive in a chemical test.

Further Spoorthy Reddy and Naveen Goud both Manager and Out Sourcing employee respectively at Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), are being arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Court at Nampally, Hyderabad. Further, the case is under investigation.

ACB requested the public to approach them if any government official demands a bribe through their toll free number of ACB, i.e. 1064. Further assured to take stringent action as per the law of land.
