HMWSSB imposes fine on apartment for wasting drinking water

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has fined a residential apartment complex in Banjara Hills ₹10,000 for allegedly wasting drinking water by releasing it onto a public road.

Water Board officials received a complaint against Sri Sairam’s West End Apartment in Anandnagar Colony, Banjara Hills. The complaint stated that drinking water from the apartment premises was flowing onto the road.

Officials inspect apartment complex

After receiving the complaint, officials from the Banjara Hills ward, Jubilee Hills circle, and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Division-XV inspected the apartment complex.

During the inspection, officials noted that the apartment’s scheduled water supply was due the next day. They found that residents had released water onto the road while cleaning overhead storage tanks.

HMWSSB warns against water wastage

The Water Board said residents must not waste potable water by discharging it onto public roads. Officials said such actions violate Water Board regulations.

Following the inspection, the Board imposed a ₹10,000 penalty on the apartment complex.

HMWSSB also warned residents against repeating such violations. The Board said it may disconnect the apartment’s water supply if similar incidents occur again.
