HMDA plans Pipeline Road widening, ORR lane expansion

HYDERABAD: To ease traffic congestion around the Outer Ring Road (ORR), the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has proposed widening and strengthening the pipeline road from Shankarpally Road near MGIT to Manikonda, along with junction development at NPCI.
Pipeline road to get six lanes
The project is expected to improve traffic movement in Kokapet, Manikonda, Gandipet, Puppalguda and Narsingii. Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL) has taken up development of the 3.57-km stretch, for which the state government has accorded administrative sanction of ₹110 crore.
The proposal includes a six-lane carriageway with a 10-metre median to accommodate a heritage channel, drains-cum-footpaths on both sides, culverts, minor bridges, junction improvements and landscaping.
Tenders will be floated on the e-procurement platform shortly, according to an official release.
ORR carriageway widening at Gachibowli
In a separate project, HGCL has proposed widening the left main carriageway of the Outer Ring Road Hyderabad from Nanakramguda to Gachibowli.
The ORR stretch currently has a 3+3 lane configuration without service roads within a right of way of 75 metres. At the Gachibowli junction, flyovers towards Kondapur and Shilpa Layout, built by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, have approach ramps on either side of the existing carriageway, creating a traffic bottleneck.
₹26.5 crore sanctioned
To address rising traffic demand and ease congestion near the flyover approaches, the left-side carriageway will be widened from three lanes to four lanes up to Gachibowli. The state government has sanctioned ₹26.50 crore for the project.
HGCL will float tenders on the e-procurement platform on January 27. The last date for submission is February 9, 2026.
