HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has initiated the process to auction 8 acres and 24 guntas of government land in MLA Colony on Road No. 12, Banjara Hills, opposite the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) office. The land forms part of a 12-acre government parcel in Survey No. 102/1 that was taken over by Shaikpet revenue authorities about a year ago.

After taking possession of the land, officials erected fencing around the site. District in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and then district collector Anudeep Durishetty had inspected the property and announced plans to develop a public park there. They had said the land would be utilised for the benefit of local residents.

Residents sought Indiramma houses on the site

Local residents had, however, demanded that Indiramma houses be constructed on the land. About a month later, revenue authorities handed over the property to HMDA. Following the completion of panchanama proceedings, HMDA took possession of the site and has now decided to sell 8 acres and 24 guntas through a public auction.

A large board displaying auction details has been installed at the location. Residents have opposed the proposed auction, stating that both the minister’s assurances and their demands have been ignored.

Pre-bid meeting scheduled for June 12

HMDA said a pre-bid meeting will be held on June 12. The deadline for registrations and payment of the bid document fee is June 17. The auction is scheduled to be conducted on June 19 from 11 am to 2 pm.

According to estimates, the land is worth around ₹1,000 crore in the open market. The auction is expected to generate significant revenue for the state government.
