With an estimated cost of Rs. 25.41 crore, the project aims to enhance the station's appearance, infrastructure, and accessibility. Over 50% of the work is complete, with a target completion date by the end of the fiscal year.

Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has announced that the redevelopment of HiTec City Railway Station, under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), is progressing swiftly.

According to Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, the project has reached 72% completion, with the entry ramp and foot overbridge (FoB) already launched. The total budget for the redevelopment stands at Rs. 25.93 crore.

The completed work includes the construction of the entry ramp and the initiation of the foot overbridge, while ongoing efforts focus on the station building, a 12-meter foot overbridge, the circulating area, the approach road, lifts, escalators, and platform covers.

This redevelopment is part of the ABSS, a nationwide initiative to modernize railway stations and provide world-class facilities to passengers. As part of this effort, 40 railway stations across Telangana are being redeveloped at an estimated cost of Rs. 2,737 crores. The vision is to enhance passenger amenities and convert stations into growth centers for the regional population.

The initiative received a boost when Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation for station redevelopments in Telangana in August 2023 and February 2024. Other major projects include the large-scale redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station and the development of Charlapalli Station to ease congestion at other terminals in the region.

The ABSS aims to modernize railway stations on a continuous basis, with a long-term vision to meet the increasing demands of passengers.

Warangal Railway Station Redevelopment

Warangal Railway Station is among the 40 stations in Telangana being redeveloped under the ABSS. Located on the Delhi-Chennai main line under South Central Railway, the station is known for its Kakatiya-inspired architecture. The redevelopment will bring significant upgrades, including a new concourse, improved waiting halls, food stalls, restrooms, and better facilities for Divyangjan passengers.

With a daily footfall of 31,887 passengers and annual earnings of Rs. 41.09 crore, Warangal Station is a key transportation hub, connecting the city to major destinations across India. About 137 trains halt at the station, including superfast services to cities like New Delhi, Howrah, Chennai, and Visakhapatnam.

The redevelopment project at Warangal Railway Station is estimated to cost Rs. 25.41 crore. The planned upgrades include improvements to the station building façade, a 12-meter-wide foot overbridge with lifts and escalators, platform surface enhancements, additional platform covers, and new toilet facilities, including provisions for Divyangjan passengers. The circulating area will also be improved for better traffic flow, and new passenger-friendly signage and train indication boards will be installed.

More than 50% of the work has been completed, and the redevelopment is scheduled to be completed by the end of this financial year.
