Fatal hit-and-run in Abdullapurmet: Young woman dies, one injured
Hyderabad: A young woman died on the spot, and a man was seriously injured after a speeding Skoda car rammed into their two-wheeler on Koheda service road, under the limits of Abdullapurmet Police Station. The incident occurred on April 11, 2025.
The victims were identified as 19-year-old Spandana, who lost her life in the incident, and Sai, who sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
According to the reports, the car hit the bike with considerable force and fled the scene without stopping. The woman died instantly due to the impact.
A case has been registered, and police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to trace the vehicle and identify the driver. The investigation is underway.
This incident follows several recent fatal accidents in the city. On March 8, 2025, an engineering student, K. Nani, was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Bachupally. Nani, along with his friends Karthik and Vishwanth, was riding a scooter when they were struck by an unidentified vehicle. Nani fell onto the road and was run over by a heavy vehicle, while his friends survived with injuries.
Additionally, on March 7, 2025, 19-year-old Kanishk Reddy died in a crash on the Outer Ring Road near Gollapalli Kalan after his car collided with a lorry. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. Kanishk was the grandson of Teegala Krishna Reddy and the son of former BRS corporator Teegala Sunaritha Reddy.
Earlier this year, on January 31, 2025, Dr. Jaswanth, a house surgeon at Kamineni Hospital, was killed in a crash near Khanapur, along with his colleague Dr. Bhumika, who later died from her injuries. Both were returning from an event when their car lost control. In another crash on September 30, 2024, Dr. Nilay Reddy, a 29-year-old specialist, died after his car collided with a road divider on the Outer Ring Road.
On September 21, 2024, Raga Jyothi, a 32-year-old woman, was killed after being struck by a lorry while crossing the road in Medchal. Just days earlier, Neeta, a woman from Nacharam, was run over by a lorry while riding her scooter.
