High Court seeks clarity on iBomma Ravi passport seizure

HYDERABAD:Â The Telangana High Court on Friday directed the police to clarify whether the passport of Immadi Ravi alias iBomma Ravi, arrested in connection with film piracy cases, has been seized or not.
Court hearing on bail pleas
Ravi has filed separate bail petitions in five cases registered on complaints by members of the film industry. The petitions were heard by Justice K Sujana.
Arguments by prosecution and defence
Counsel for the petitioner submitted that the investigation had already been completed and sought bail. Opposing the plea, public prosecutor Palle Nageswara Rao argued that granting bail could lead to the accused fleeing abroad.
The prosecutor told the court that Ravi does not hold an Indian passport but possesses an Ireland passport. At this stage, the judge suggested that the passport be taken into custody.
Police seek time for clarification
Responding to the court, the petitioner’s counsel said the passport was already with the police. The public prosecutor later said the investigating officer was not available and sought time to provide clear information on the status of the passport.
