Heavy rain causes traffic chaos, rush at metro stations, GHMC issues helpline number

Hyderabad: With a heavy downpour in the Greater Hyderabad areas, the city is experiencing a heavy traffic from the office goers on Tuesday morning. Several low-lying areas have been inundated forcing the Hyderabad Traffic police asking the commuters to choose an alternate route in certain areas. The roads have also become slippery and the pothole threat is haunting the commuters.
Earlier on Monday, the Hyderabad Traffic police had also advised the commuters to start early to their offices. “Due to continuous rains roads may be slippery and traffic congestion may be expected due to water logging, commuters are requested to start early to reach their destination. Hyderabad traffic police are working to ensure the free flow of Traffic.”
Meanwhile, with heavy water logging in Bandlaguda, the traffic police have also asked residents to take an alternate route. “Due to heavy #Rainfall #waterlogging b/w Bandlaguda to Hashamabad. With the road transport being dicey, the commuters are also flocking to the metro stations, resulting in a huge rush of passengers. Particularly, the key stations such as Ameerpt, Raidurgam, Hitech city, Miyapur were also seeing a surge in passengers.
GHMC issues helpline number
Meanwhile, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Commissioner (GHMC) Amrapali has issued instructions to the people to be careful in the wake of heavy rains. She further ordered not to open manholes as there is a possibility of an accident with water logging.
Further, the official has alerted people residing in the low-lying areas. Instructions were also issued to the staff to properly barricade any kind of risk zones, where residents are prone to accidents due to ongoing works. The residents can also reach out to GHMC helpline number, 040-21111111 in case of any assistance.
