Hayathnagar woman dies after family planning surgery

HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old woman died after developing complications following a family planning surgery at a private hospital in Hayathnagar on Sunday. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

Post-surgery complications lead to hospital transfer

According to police, Manjula, 25, a resident of Gonya Thanda in Adavidevulapally mandal of Nalgonda district, was admitted to Neeladri Hospital in Hayathnagar on Friday night for a family planning operation.

After the procedure, she was shifted to the ward on Saturday. Later that evening, she complained of severe abdominal pain. Doctors who examined her reportedly found internal bleeding. As her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to Kamineni Hospital in LB Nagar for advanced treatment.

Doctors at Kamineni Hospital declared her dead in the early hours of Sunday.

Family alleges medical negligence

Following Manjula’s death, her relatives gathered outside Neeladri Hospital and staged a protest, alleging that negligence by the hospital’s doctors led to her death. Police intervened and dispersed the protesters.

Based on a complaint lodged by the deceased’s mother, Korra Laxmibai, Hayathnagar police registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
