Hayathnagar Tanker Hits Cars, Overturns on Highway

HAYATHNAGAR: A petrol tanker created panic on the Vijayawada–Hyderabad National Highway after it rammed two cars and overturned on Thursday evening.
Tanker loses control after hitting two cars
According to officials, the tanker was carrying petrol from Malkapur in Choutuppal mandal of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district to Lakdikapul in Hyderabad. When it reached near the Hanuman Temple at Lakshma Reddy Palem in the Pedda Amberpet area, it hit two cars travelling ahead before going out of control and overturning.
The occupants of the two cars escaped with minor injuries.
Rescue teams pull driver from cabin
The tanker driver, Hanumantha Reddy, was trapped inside the cabin after the accident. As petrol leaked from the vehicle, police, Disaster Response Force personnel and Fire Services teams sprayed foam and carried out rescue operations.
The driver was safely pulled out of the cabin and shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Traffic disruption continues for several hours
The overturned tanker remained on the road until late in the night as crane operators initially did not come forward to remove it. The incident led to heavy congestion, with traffic coming to a standstill on the service road.
Officials later deployed heavy cranes and cleared the tanker after 10 pm, according to SF Yadagiri.
