Thief hijacks ambulance in Hayathnagar, leads police on 100-kilometer high-speed chase

Hyderabad: A thief reportedly hijacked a 108 ambulance in Hayathnagar on Saturday, December 7, 2024, and used it as a getaway vehicle, triggering a high-speed chase along the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway.
According to the reports, the pursuit, which spanned over 100 kilometers, saw the ambulance, with its sirens blaring, at the center of the chaos, as police struggled to intercept the suspect.
The thief aggressively weaved through traffic, evading attempts by law enforcement to stop him. The situation escalated near Chityala when the suspect rammed into ASI Reddy, who was trying to block the vehicle. The officer was critically injured and rushed to a hospital in Hyderabad.
The chase continued as the thief crashed through the Korlapahad Toll Gate in Kethepalli Mandal. Police then set up a blockade with lorries at Tekumatla in Suryapet Mandal, successfully bringing the ambulance to a stop and ending the pursuit.
Police authorities confirmed that the suspect has a criminal history of thefts. ASI Reddy remains in critical condition, and police have vowed to ensure the perpetrator faces the full force of the law.
