Harish Rao targets Revanth Reddy ahead of SIT probe
HYDERABAD: Former minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Legislature Party deputy leader Harish Rao on Monday accused chief minister Revanth Reddy of indulging in diversionary politics ahead of municipal elections, as he prepared to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
Calls notices diversion before polls
Speaking to reporters at Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao said repeated notices and inquiries would not deter the BRS leadership. “You can issue any number of notices or summon me any number of times, but we will not step back,” he said, addressing Revanth Reddy directly.
He said the BRS had full faith in the judicial system and maintained that it had committed no wrongdoing. Harish Rao pointed out that he appeared before the SIT despite receiving the notice at 9 pm and travelling from Siddipet. “We are going confidently and will give clear answers to all questions,” he added.
References phone-tapping case, Supreme Court
Referring to the alleged phone-tapping case, Harish Rao said the Supreme Court had already delivered a strong response on the issue. He alleged that the government was staging “political drama” for attention diversion ahead of elections.
Attacks on six guarantees, promises
Harish Rao said the BRS cadre, forged under the leadership of K Chandrashekar Rao, would continue to question the government. He accused the Congress of failing to implement its “six guarantees” and termed them “420 promises”.
He said people wanted implementation of schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, pensions, jobs, fee reimbursement and gold for eligible beneficiaries. “Instead of filing cases against me to divert attention, implement the promises made to the people,” he said.
Municipal polls will give reply
Harish Rao said attempts to politically damage the BRS through cases during municipal elections would not succeed. “The agenda of the municipal elections will be your six guarantees, your 420 promises and the claim of two lakh jobs,” he said, adding that people would deliver a fitting reply in the upcoming polls.
