Harish Rao Slams Revanth Reddy Over Surveyors

HYDERABAD: Former minister Harish Rao on Sunday alleged that the Congress government had “betrayed” licensed surveyors who quit private jobs after assurances from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
Representatives of licensed surveyors from across the state met Rao at his camp office in Siddipet and submitted a memorandum detailing their grievances.
Questions ₹10 per acre commission for surveys
Rao said nearly 6,500 educated youth were selected as licensed surveyors under the Bhubharati scheme, but were later “left on the streets”.
He said many of them, including BTech graduates, resigned from private and information technology jobs in the hope of securing stable government employment and an honorarium.
According to Rao, the Chief Minister and the Revenue Minister had assured them of good pay, conducted training sessions, examinations and oath-taking ceremonies, but failed to honour their promises after deployment.
He criticised the reported decision to pay surveyors a commission of ₹10 per acre without a minimum wage. “If a surveyor covers 2,000 acres in a year, will he earn only ₹20,000?” he asked, questioning whether this was the employment promised to youth.
Rao alleged that surveyors were being used in mandal offices without proper pay and termed it exploitation.
BRS to raise issue in Assembly
He said that for the past year, 6,500 surveyors had received neither regular work nor salary, pushing their families into financial distress.
Rao demanded that the government immediately provide a fixed honorarium and ensure job security as promised, instead of offering commissions.
He assured that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) would extend full support to the surveyors and raise the issue in the upcoming Assembly session. He said the party would continue to fight until justice was done.
