Harish Rao alleges Revanth family owns 308 acres

Hyderabad universities accused of facing land encroachment by Telangana government

HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) deputy floor leader T Harish Rao on Wednesday alleged that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s family owned 308 acres of land and demanded that the chief minister respond to the allegation.

Speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao said the Revanth Reddy family, including his child and brothers, owned the land.

He said villagers had told them that the family owned 300 acres in Kotra alone. “We have proper documents relating to 175 acres of this land,” he said.

Harish Rao said the 300 acres in Kotra, 77 acres in Kondareddypalli and another 54 acres mentioned in an affidavit together amounted to 308 acres. He asked whether it was not a fact that the land was in the name of Revanth Reddy’s family and demanded an answer from the chief minister.

Harish Rao was responding to Revanth Reddy’s remarks in the Assembly on Section 22A.

Harish Rao questions Revanth Reddy’s remarks on KCR

Harish Rao said Revanth Reddy had earlier claimed that former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao owned a 1,000-acre farmhouse but was now saying it was 67 acres.

He accused the chief minister of trying to target the Telangana movement leader and said KCR’s agricultural land details were clearly mentioned in his election affidavit and income-tax returns.

“There is not even one gunta more,” Harish Rao said.

He said KCR’s relatives had been working in the software sector in the US for 30 years and had also been involved in the poultry business since 2010.

According to Harish Rao, they legally purchased shares in Raj Breeders in 2019 through bank cheques using accounted money. He said there were no irregularities in the transaction.

Rao seeks white paper on Section 22A land

Harish Rao said Revanth Reddy had accepted in the Assembly that the allegations raised by the BRS over lands in the Section 22A prohibited list were true.

He said the chief minister had stated that after 3.71 lakh acres were initially placed on the prohibited list, the figure increased to 30 lakh acres.

Harish Rao demanded that Revanth Reddy explain how many lakh families had been affected by the move.

He said the chief minister had stated that collectors had signed and uploaded the records in haste. “Why were no action taken against the officials who made mistakes?” Harish Rao asked.

He said collectors had uploaded an old list dating back to 1999.

BRS demands data on additions, deletions from list

Harish Rao demanded that the government release a white paper showing how many acres had been added to and removed from the prohibited list since the Congress came to power.

He said the BRS was ready for an inquiry by a sitting Supreme Court judge into the transactions that took place under Dharani and Bhu Bharati during the BRS and Congress governments.

“Is Revanth ready?” he asked.

Harish Rao said people from areas including Quthbullapur, Medchal and Malkajgiri had been coming to Telangana Bhavan to raise their problems.

He challenged the chief minister and his ministers to accompany him and speak to the people directly. He said he would prove that registrations had stopped only after the Congress came to power.

Harish Rao alleges irregularities under Bhu Bharati

Harish Rao said that while the BRS was questioning alleged corruption in the Section 22A process, personal attacks were being made against KCR and his party.

He said lakhs of transactions had been completed within minutes through Dharani and alleged that instead of correcting minor errors, the government was committing what he described as scams in the name of Bhu Bharati.

Harish Rao also said Revanth Reddy had himself acknowledged that tensions had arisen because government-sold Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) lands were also included in the prohibited list.

“Isn’t the Congress government responsible for this?” he asked.

Harish Rao criticised Revanth Reddy’s statements as “half-truths and lies”.

He alleged that the BRS members had been suspended for the entire Assembly session because the government feared that their presence would expose alleged scams and alleged corruption involving the family.
