BRS files complaint over Congress inducements in Jubilee Hills

HYDERABAD: Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former minister Harish Rao accused the ruling Congress of attempting to lure voters through inducements ahead of the Jubilee Hills Assembly bypoll.
Leading a delegation of BRS leaders, Rao met the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in Hyderabad and submitted complaints with photo and video evidence. He alleged that the Congress was freely distributing liquor, cash, sarees and mixer grinders worth several lakh rupees.
“More than one lakh sarees and mixer-grinders are being distributed. Despite repeated complaints, officials are ignoring these violations. Some police and other officers have turned into agents of the ruling party,” he told reporters after the meeting.
The BRS delegation demanded strict action against officials misusing power and urged the Election Commission to deploy central forces in sensitive polling stations. They also requested that women police, ASHA and Anganwadi workers be posted to verify voters’ identities at booths to prevent fake voting.
Rao said fake voter ID cards were being prepared in large numbers and that the party had submitted video proof to the CEO. The delegation also lodged complaints through the C-Vigil mobile app.
He questioned the location of a polling booth adjacent to the Congress office in Yousufguda and sought its relocation, submitting evidence to the Commission.
‘Revanth Reddy resorting to desperate tactics’
Rao criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, alleging that his sudden review meeting on the Congress’ “six guarantees” was aimed at influencing voters in Jubilee Hills.
“The Chief Minister did not find time in two years to review the six guarantees. Now, just before the bypoll, he suddenly calls a review to mislead voters. He failed to give them legal status despite promises made in the first Assembly session,” Rao said.
He added that Revanth Reddy’s “bankrupt politics” were now evident to the people. “No matter how many dramas the Chief Minister plays, the voters of Jubilee Hills are wise and will teach the Congress a fitting lesson,” he said.
