Food safety drive in Chandrayangutta: Two cases registered, three apprehended
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST), operating under the Commissioner’s Task Force, conducted a special enforcement drive against food safety violations at two fast food centres in Chandrayangutta on July 17, 2026. The inspections were carried out in coordination with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Food Safety Officer to curb food adulteration, enforce food safety regulations and safeguard public health.
Two cases were registered during the drive and three persons were apprehended. The accused and the seized material were handed over to the Station House Officer of Chandrayangutta police station for further legal action.
Officials seize reused oil, chicken and artificial food colours
The teams inspected Al-Madina Chinese Fast Food Center and Omer Chinese Fast Food Center in Chandrayangutta. Officials found food being prepared under unhygienic conditions, use of reused cooking oil and artificial food colours, failure to maintain pest control records, absence of water analysis certificates and violations of prescribed food hygiene standards. Unsafe food handling practices that could pose a risk to public health were also detected.
The enforcement team seized around 20 litres of reused cooking oil, 10 litres of fresh cooking oil, about 40 kg of fried chicken, approximately 40 kg of raw coloured chicken and three boxes and six packets of artificial food colours.
Police urge consumers to verify food safety standards
The operation was led by Inspectors of Police N. Ranjith Kumar Goud and M. Anjaiah, assisted by Sub-Inspector V. Shankar and the H-FAST team, along with Food Safety Officer R. Dyvanidhi of GHMC Circle No. 23.
In a public advisory, Hyderabad City Police urged consumers to avoid eating at unhygienic or unlicensed establishments. The police advised the public to verify the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licence, manufacturing and expiry dates, and proper product labelling before purchasing food items. Citizens can report food adulteration or unhygienic food practices to the H-FAST toll-free helpline 8712661212 for prompt action, the police said.
