Three Hyderabad residents die in Guntur road accident

Hyderabad: Three members of a family were killed and five others injured after a private travel bus rammed into a stationary car on the Chennai–Kolkata National Highway near Ankireddipalem, on the outskirts of Guntur, in the early hours of Friday.
Car halted on highway margin
According to police, the victims were returning to Hyderabad after offering hair at Tirumala as part of a vow for two children. The car was stopped on the highway margin as the driver stepped out to wash his face when the accident occurred.
The deceased were identified as Mahesh, 28, who was driving the car, and his relatives Kanchanapalli Venkaiah, 62, and his wife Suseela, 55. All three died on the spot due to the impact.
Bus hits car while overtaking
Police said a private travel bus belonging to VRCR Travels, travelling from Chilakaluripet towards Vijayawada at high speed, hit the car from behind while overtaking a lorry.
Five others Madhu, his wife Manisha, Mansoor, and two children sustained injuries. Locals rushed them to hospital. Their condition is stated to be stable.
Family diverted route for CNG
The family, originally from Midathalpalli village in Atmakur mandal of Suryapet district, had been living in Hyderabad for some years.
Madhu told police the car was running on CNG. As gas was unavailable till Ongole, the family diverted towards Vijayawada to refill. They planned to visit Kanaka Durga temple before returning to Suryapet on Friday evening.
Overcome with grief, Madhu said he lost both his parents due to the unplanned halt.
Police have registered a case and are investigating.
