Gundala forest beat officer caught taking ₹10,000 bribe

GUNDALA: ACB trap laid after farmer complaint in Sayanapalli village
A forest beat officer was caught red-handed while accepting a ₹10,000 bribe from a podu farmer in Gundala mandal on Thursday.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted the raid under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent Y Ramesh. The accused, Banoth Naresh, posted at Nadimigudem, was apprehended while taking the money.
Officer sought money to avoid harassing podu farmer
Officials said the officer demanded the bribe to not trouble the farmer from Sayanapalli village. Acting on a complaint, the ACB team laid a trap and arrested him during the transaction.
Awareness drives lead to rise in complaints from remote villages
Y Ramesh said complaints are increasingly coming from remote villages due to awareness programmes. He added that prompt action on complaints has improved public confidence in the agency.
