Utnur orphan Lavakumar clears Group-1, becomes MPDO

ADILABAD: Tudum Lavakumar, who lost his parents at the age of 10, has overcome hardships to secure the post of Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) through the Telangana State Public Service Commission’s Group-1 examination.
Lavakumar, a native of Kotthaguda checkpost area in Utnur mandal, studied in government schools after his parents, daily wage workers, passed away. He topped his Class 10 in a tribal gurukul school with 536 marks. He later completed his intermediate in a private college in Hyderabad and pursued BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU).
Multiple failures before success
Determined to overcome poverty, he focused on competitive examinations. After failing in Group-2 in 2016, he secured a panchayat secretary post in 2019 and worked at Mankapur in Narnoor mandal of Adilabad district. He attempted Group-1 in 2022 and 2023 but did not succeed.
In his fourth attempt in 2024, he secured state-level 88th rank under the Scheduled Caste category and was selected as MPDO.
Family support and perseverance
Lavakumar said the support of relatives and his wife Mrinalini helped him stay motivated. “Though I grew up as an orphan, encouragement from friends and family, and my determination to reach a higher position, helped me succeed in Group-1,” he said.
