HYDERABAD: Fifteen pre-printed Form-7 applications seeking deletion of names from the electoral roll surfaced in Goshamahal Assembly constituency on Saturday, with the Congress alleging that the forms targeted Muslim voters, as reported by DC.

The issue came to light at polling station No. 173 after a booth-level officer (BLO) allegedly refused to accept the forms brought by a BJP booth-level agent (BLA).

According to Congress sources, the BJP BLA approached the BLO with the forms. A Congress worker present at the spot noticed the documents and asked to examine them.

The worker found that the Form-7 applications were already filled in, the sources said. The BLO then refused to accept the forms, they added.

“When the BLO checked, they were pre-filled Form-7 and he refused to take those forms. Despite being printed forms, even the BJP BLA was hesitant to sign,” Congress sources said.

The sources alleged that the Congress worker photographed the forms and recorded videos of them. They said the BJP BLA then took the forms back and left the spot.

The incident has drawn attention because BJP MLA T. Raja Singh represents Goshamahal. Telangana government records list Singh as the BJP MLA from the constituency.

Fact-checker Mohammed Zubair also referred to the incident in a social media post. He said there had been an attempt to seek deletion of Muslim names through Form-7 applications in Goshamahal.

Congress seeks probe into source of printed Form-7 applications

The Congress has lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer and the Hyderabad district election officer. It has sought an inquiry into the incident and the source of the pre-printed forms.

The development comes days after a similar controversy in Musheerabad. Congress alleged that BJP BLA S. Balachander, also known as Balu, submitted around 30 Form-7 applications against Congress BLA Shafiuddin and members of his family.

Recent reports said the applications had been prepared and printed in advance.

Congress alleged that the Musheerabad applications sought deletion of names from the electoral roll. The party also questioned the role of the BJP BLA and sought an inquiry from election authorities.

The Goshamahal incident is the latest in a series of allegations by the Congress over the alleged misuse of Form-7 applications during the revision of electoral rolls in Hyderabad.

This version should improve both Yoast scores while keeping the allegations attributed to Congress sources rather than presenting them as established facts.
