Goshamahal police arrest two in ₹7.4 lakh fraud
HYDERABAD: A businessman and his driver have been arrested for allegedly cheating a trader of ₹7,48,367 by procuring pulses and foodgrains on credit and failing to make payment, Goshamahal police said.
Trader alleges false payment promise
The arrested accused are Akunoori Ashok, 60, proprietor of Dhanalakshmi Traders, and his driver, Dharmendra Singh, 25.
According to police, Roop Chand Solanki, a trader from Feelkhana in Begum Bazaar, lodged a complaint at Goshamahal police station on July 5. He alleged that Ashok and Singh induced him to supply pulses and foodgrains by assuring him that payment would be made shortly. However, they allegedly failed to clear the dues, causing a loss of ₹7,48,367.
Police seize evidence during investigation
Based on the complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation. During the probe, they collected invoices, cheques, bank return memos and other documentary evidence.
The two accused were taken into custody on Sunday. Police also seized two mobile phones allegedly used in the offence. The accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.

Police advise traders to verify customers
Police urged traders, wholesalers and business establishments to exercise caution before extending credit facilities. They advised businesses to verify the credibility of customers and maintain proper invoices and payment records.
Police also cautioned traders against supplying goods solely on the basis of verbal assurances or post-dated cheques without proper verification. They urged business owners to approach the nearest police station immediately if they notice any fraud or suspicious business transactions, saying timely reporting could help prevent similar offences.
The arrests were made under the supervision of Golconda Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police J. Raghavender Reddy and Goshamahal Assistant Commissioner of Police K. Chandrasekhar Reddy. Goshamahal police station Station House Officer B. Shravan Kumar and his team investigated the case and arrested the accused.
