Gopanpally flyover all set for inauguration after Rs.17 crore construction
GOPANPALLY: The eagerly anticipated Gopanpally flyover is now ready for inauguration and public use. Completed after nearly two years of construction, this flyover is set to significantly enhance mobility in areas such as Tellapur, Gopanpally, and Nallagandla.
Residents and commuters in the vicinity have long awaited the opening of this flyover, which will alleviate traffic congestion. The Gopanpally flyover was constructed at a cost of Rs.17,03,93,084.
Gopanpally residents believe that volunteers played a crucial role in managing traffic during peak hours, resolving the construction mess effectively. The residents also attributed the timely completion of this project to individuals who diligently pursued officials through Right to Information (RTI) requests and voiced grievances, ultimately expediting the process. The residents of Gopanpally also commend the Cyberabad traffic police for efficiently handling crisis situations, particularly during heavy rains.
Nallagandla resident and RTI activist Vijay Ivaturi views the flyover as a forward-thinking infrastructure project, despite the delays in its execution extending beyond two years.
Vijay Ivaturi expressed immense relief over the completion of the flyover, stating, “Residing in Nallagandla, approximately 3 kilometers from the flyover site, I’m greatly relieved. For those living in Nallagandla, Gopanpally, and Tellapur, this flyover brings substantial relief. Chandanagar traffic also relies on this route. The evening rush hour exacerbates congestion at this junction. The new flyover will alleviate this inconvenience. Moreover, with massive residential developments slated for the next 2 years in this area, the flyover will effectively manage the influx of new traffic.”
According to a response to an RTI application from Chevella, Rangareddy district, the flyover towards Gopanapalli-Nallagandla was originally slated for opening by the end of October 2023. The flyover contractor has been paid an amount totaling Rs.17,03,93,084 to date, according to the RTI.
Temporary repairs were made to address any potholes, with full-scale completion of the project expected by the end of October 2023. However, the flyover has recently been completed and is now all set for inauguration.
