Netaji Park water wastage sparks outrage amid Go Green Colony water crisis
HYDERABAD: In a glaring example of negligence and mismanagement, a massive quantity of water was witnessed flowing wastefully at Netaji Park earlier this morning, even as residents of the nearby Go Green Colony continue to grapple with an acute and prolonged water crisis.
Meanwhile, the videos from the park show water gushing out, reportedly due to a valve malfunction or civic neglect is going viral in the social media groups. The wastage is especially striking because Go Green Colony residents have been chasing the water department for their scheduled supply.
“We keep asking about our scheduled water supply, but valuable water is being wasted elsewhere,” said Vinay, a resident. He urged officials to act against those responsible for the negligence at Netaji Park.
Additionally, the situation in Go Green Colony has become critical. The water supply schedule has been unreliable for over a year. Vinay said, “Water is not released on schedule. This has been a problem for more than a year. On every scheduled supply day, we have to call and follow up with the water lineman just to find out when the supply will come.”
Meanwhile, although water was scheduled, the taps stayed dry. When residents asked, the lineman sent old photos, allegedly from two days earlier, and claimed a valve problem was stopping the supply.
One resident, suspicious of the lineman’s claims, called the Assistant General Manager (AGM). The AGM denied any valve issue, contradicting what the lineman said. After this, the lineman stopped answering calls and messages, leaving the colony without water or information.
Go Green Colony residents have appealed HMWSSB. “We request your intervention to resolve this long-standing issue and make sure water supply is regular and timely,” added Vinay. They also want an investigation into the misinformation from field staff and the water wastage at Netaji Park.
