Manikonda: A 10-year-old girl was killed, and her father sustained injuries after a speeding lorry collided with their scooter on Manikonda Road near Shaikpet on the morning of January 28, 2025.

According to the reports, the father was dropping his daughter, identified as Gaddam Atharvi, a class 5 student at Delhi School of Excellence, when the accident occurred.

The impact of the collision caused Atharvi to fall off the scooter, and she died at the scene. Her father suffered minor injuries.

Locals who witnessed the incident rushed to help, stopped the lorry, and notified the police. Authorities arrived shortly after and began gathering statements from witnesses and investigating the cause of the crash.

The police also cleared traffic from the scene while further details of the incident are being awaited.

In a separate incident, a 10-year-old girl tragically lost her life when her scooter was hit by a lorry in a collision captured on CCTV cameras. The incident occurred on Thursday, August 30, 2024, resulting in severe injuries to two others.

The victim has been identified as Kameshwari, a Class 6 student at Johnson Grammar School. Kameshwari was traveling home with her mother, Santoshi, and her younger brother, Vedansh, a 2nd-grade student at the same school. As they were headed home from school, a lorry traveling from Uppal struck their scooter.

The collision caused Santoshi and Vedansh to fall to the left side of the road, while Kameshwari was thrown to the right. Tragically, the lorry ran over Kameshwari, causing fatal injuries. Despite immediate medical attention, Kameshwari did not survive.

A case has been registered against the lorry driver, and an investigation is underway.

Following the tragedy, Greater Hyderabad City Deputy Mayor Mote Srilatha Sobhan Reddy and TTUC State President Mote Sobhan Reddy visited the family, offering floral tributes at the student’s residence in Hanuman Nagar. They extended their condolences and wished the family strength during this difficult time.

This incident follows a similar tragedy on August 17, in which 16-year-old Ranga Sathvika was killed. Sathvika, a 10th grader at Gowtham Model School, was a resident of Kimtte Colony, Tarnaka. She was the daughter of Gopi.

In that earlier accident, Sathvika was in an auto parked behind an RTC bus when a high-speed tipper lorry collided with the auto. The force of the impact sent the auto into the stationary RTC bus, resulting in Sathvika’s death and severe injuries to the auto driver, who was hospitalized.
