GHMC worker dies after being hit by private bus in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A private travel bus collided with a pedestrian in Shahpur Nagar under the Jeedimetla police station limits, resulting in a fatal accident on October 30, 2024, early morning. The victim has been identified as Harikrishna, who was the sanitation person in charge of GHMC’s 23rd circle.
According to reports, Harikrishna was crossing the road when the bus struck him and dragged him from Chowrasta to Sagar Hotel. Emergency services were alerted by locals, and police quickly arrived at the crime spot. The Jeedimetla police have since registered a case and are conducting an investigation into the incident.
In response to the tragedy, GHMC workers gathered to protest near Sagar Hotel, expressing their grief and demanding accountability. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
This incident follows a series of tragic accidents in the area. Earlier, a woman was killed after being struck and run over by a lorry while crossing the road in Medchal on Saturday morning, September 21, 2024. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Raga Jyothi, sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Additionally, on September 18, 2024, another woman, Neeta, was tragically killed in a road accident while returning home after dropping her children off at school. The accident occurred when Neeta was leaving her daughter on a scooter near Johnson Grammar School. A lorry loaded with gas cylinders struck her as she navigated the busy street near the HMT gate in Nacharam. Despite the efforts of those nearby, she sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
