GHMC announces tender for 15,500 LED street lights

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has launched an open tender for the supply and delivery of 15,500 new LED street lights in a major initiative to enhance street lighting across the city.

The tender, identified as TENDER No.01/SE(Electrical)/GHMC/2024-25, was officially announced on September 13, 2024, and will be managed through an online bidding process.

The contract, with an internal benchmark of Rs. 298.72 lakhs (exclusive of taxes), requires the delivery of the lights within one month from the date of agreement. Bidders must submit an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of Rs. 2,98,720, which represents 1% of the benchmark cost. Additionally, a transaction fee of Rs. 8,962 plus GST @ 18% must be paid to TGTS.

The LED street lights must come with a comprehensive warranty of up to two years and meet stringent technical specifications. Acceptable brands include Philips, Osram, GE Venture, and others, with LED chips from manufacturers such as Philips Lumileds, Cree, and Nichia.

Key technical requirements include a luminous efficacy of 150 lumens per watt, a colour rendering index of at least 70, and a correlated colour temperature of either 5000K or 5700K. The luminaires must feature IP-66 protection, robust thermal management through heat sinks, and be capable of operating in ambient temperatures ranging from -10°C to +50°C. They should also include surge and over-voltage protection, and provisions for tilt-able adaptors for proper road illumination.

Tender documents will be available for download starting September 16, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. The deadline for bid submissions is September 25, 2024, by 4:00 p.m. Technical bids will be opened at 4:30 p.m. on the same day, with price bids following at 5:00 p.m.
