GHMC to assign unique ID to Hyderabad buildings

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has begun a technical exercise to provide comprehensive information on every building in the city through a unique identification system.
Each building will be assigned a Unique ID linked to its Property Tax Identification Number (PTIN), Trade Licence Identification Number (TIN), water supply Connection Account Number (CAN), and electricity connection details. A QR code will be generated for each structure, enabling online access to the data upon scanning.

Officials said the system, based on Geographic Information System (GIS) and Google Street View integration, will help verify discrepancies between recorded and actual building area. The data will aid in tax revision, reassessment and category changes.
GHMC has issued a second tender notification to select an agency for implementing the Unique ID and QR code system. One firm has submitted a bid.
