GHMC Urges Property Taxpayers to Use OTS Scheme

Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner R.V. Karnan has appealed to property taxpayers to use the One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme, which provides a 90% rebate on interest for pending property tax dues. The scheme will remain in force until March 31.
Property Tax Payments Rise
At a press conference at the GHMC Head Office on Monday, Karnan said that around 16.80 lakh out of 28.08 lakh property taxpayers in the CURE area have already paid their property tax. The CURE area includes GHMC, Municipal Corporation of Miryalaguda (MMC), and Choutuppal Municipal Corporation (CMC).
He highlighted that property tax collections in the CURE area have grown compared to last year. By the same date last year, GHMC had collected ₹1,984 crore, whereas this year’s collection stands at ₹2,186 crore.
To encourage timely payments, GHMC has enabled online property tax payments through MeeSeva centres, the GHMC website, Citizen Service Centres, and the MyGHMC mobile app. The Commissioner warned that GHMC will take strict action under the GHMC Act against owners who fail to clear long-pending dues.
Focus on Sanitation and Public Services
As part of the State Government’s “99 Days – Praja Palana, Pragathi Pranalika” initiative, GHMC conducted special drives from March 6 to March 16 across six zones, 30 circle offices, and 150 wards, which included office cleaning drives and file clearances, mapping and removal of Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs), disposal of construction and demolition waste, inspections of FOBs, RUBs, underpasses, and flyovers, fire safety checks, mega e-waste collection drives, and public toilet maintenance; Karnan emphasized that sanitation remains a top priority, with focused efforts to eliminate GVPs and manage e-waste effectively.
Intensified Awareness Campaign for OTS Scheme
With only 15 days left for the OTS deadline, GHMC has ramped up its awareness efforts. Publicity includes 100 bus shelters, cable news channels, FM radio, social media, and two special awareness videos approved for theatre screenings by the Central Board of Film Certification.
“The MyGHMC app also provides services for property assessment, corrections, and related queries. GHMC is committed to efficient, technology-driven governance,” the Commissioner added.
