HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on May 4, 2026, caught a junior assistant of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1,00,000 near Yousufguda checkpost.

The accused, B. Srilatha, posted as junior assistant in the Revenue/Tax wing at the office of the deputy commissioner, Borabanda Circle-37, Khairatabad Zone, was caught at around 14.00 IST. Officials said she had demanded a total bribe of ₹5,00,000 from a complainant.

Demand linked to Mee Seva application and approvals

According to the ACB, the bribe was sought to extend official favour in processing and issuing house construction permission. The alleged favour covered all stages, from application through Mee Seva to final approval and handing over of documents.

Officials said Srilatha accepted ₹1,00,000 as the first instalment when she was trapped.

The tainted amount was recovered from her possession. Chemical tests conducted on her hands returned positive, indicating contact with the bribe money.
