Hyderabad Gears Up for Ganesh Utsav 2026 as GHMC Fast-Tracks Key Arrangements
HYDERABAD: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner R. V. Karnan, IAS, and Additional Commissioner Badhavath Santhosh, IAS, chaired a coordination meeting with representatives of the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi to discuss preparations for Ganesh Utsav 2026.
The meeting took place at the GHMC Head Office Complex on Tank Bund Road. Officials discussed sanitation, road repairs, barricading, lighting, parking and crane arrangements at immersion points.
They also discussed the finalised Balapur-Tank Bund procession route and the deployment of Ganesh Action Teams.
GHMC will deploy extra staff and machinery at major immersion points. It will also arrange mobile toilets and drinking water facilities at these locations.
The GHMC control room will coordinate with Hyderabad City Police, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) and other departments throughout the celebrations.
Karnan directed officials to finish all pending works on priority. These include tree pruning, road repairs and street lighting works.
GHMC assured organisers that it would extend full support and coordinate with all departments to ensure smooth festival arrangements.
The civic body also urged citizens and devotees to cooperate with the authorities during the celebrations. It appealed to people to choose eco-friendly, clay-based Ganesh idols to help protect Hyderabad’s water bodies and environment.
