HYDERABAD: An examiner in the Accounts Section of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹35,000 at the Secunderabad Zonal Office on March 5, 2026.
The accused, Surya Vamsi Santosh, allegedly demanded ₹40,000 from a complainant to process and forward the complainant’s retirement benefits file to the GHMC head office for sanction.
Officials of the ACB’s City Range-II unit conducted a trap and caught the official red-handed at his office while accepting ₹35,000 from the complainant. The tainted amount was recovered from his possession at his instance.
According to the ACB, the official performed his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.
The accused is being arrested and will be produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. The case is under investigation.
The ACB withheld details of the complainant for security reasons.
The bureau urged citizens to report demands for bribes by public servants through its toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be lodged through WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook (Telangana ACB), and X (@TelanganaACB). The agency said the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
