HYDERABAD: The District Election Officer (DEO) and Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) chaired a weekly review meeting with representatives of recognised political parties to assess the progress of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026.

The DEO briefed the representatives on house-to-house enumeration and the collection and digitisation of Enumeration Forms. The official stressed close coordination among Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and political parties to ensure that every eligible elector is covered.

Political parties raise voter awareness and BLO availability issues

Representatives raised issues related to voter awareness, the availability of BLOs, collection of Enumeration Forms and digitisation centres.

The DEO directed Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to strengthen voter awareness through Tom-Tom and SAT Auto publicity. BLOs and BLO Supervisors were asked to respond promptly to citizens and political party representatives and strictly follow Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines.

The DEO reiterated that no document, including Aadhaar card, should be insisted upon or collected along with the Enumeration Form.

BLOs told to remain available throughout enumeration period

The DEO instructed all BLOs and BLO Supervisors to remain available in their assigned field areas from 8am to 8pm throughout the enumeration period.

EROs and AEROs were also directed to provide updated lists of BLOs, BLO Supervisors and designated centres for the collection and digitisation of Enumeration Forms during weekly meetings with political parties.

The DEO invited suggestions from political party representatives and assured them that all genuine issues would be addressed promptly in accordance with ECI guidelines.
