Following complaints, GHMC demolishes illegal constructions at Ayyappa society
Serilingampally: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation(GHMC) authorities have initiated a demolition of illegal constructions in the Chandanagar Circle under the Serilingampally Zone. The GHMC officially informed the media about the demolitions on Tuesday.
In Khanamet, illegal constructions were demolished in the Survey of India open plot and several plot numbers in Ayyappa Society. Authorities have declared that no illegal constructions will be tolerated henceforth, and the demolition drives will be accelerated.
The corporation stated that numerous complaints have been received by officials regarding the large-scale illegal constructions taking place in Ayyappa Society within the Madhapur Division. On Tuesday alone, dozens of illegal constructions in Ayyappa Society were demolished. As per the GHMC, for some buildings their pillars and the plot slabs were also grounded. The demolition drive took place with the orders of the GHMC Commissioner, Amrapali K in the supervision of the Town Planning officers and the works started early in the morning.
GHMC further clarified that any construction undertaken without proper permissions will be subjected to demolition. It was also stated that these demolition activities have been ongoing in Ayyappa Society for the past one week. Some structures were demolished while still in the early stages of construction.
While the illegal constructions have been continuing unabated in the area for years in Ayyappa society, now with the authorities taking stringent actions, those undertaking constructions without proper approvals are in a state of panic.
The videos of the demolition were also shared by the DC Chandanagar on their X handle (formerly Twitter). It said that “Demolition of various illegal constructions in Ayyappa Society and Survey of India Colony in Madhapur.” In the footage shared, one can also see a JCB demolishing under construction structures, including a one storey building and the another building which has laid its pillars.
