Ganja Worth Rs. 1.2 Crore Seized From Septic Tank Vehicle In Patancheru

Hyderabad: In a shocking turn of events, Telangana DTF police on March 5, 2025, seized 200 kg of ganja worth Rs. 1.25 crore, which was being transported in a septic tank vehicle to evade detection.

The illegal drugs were intercepted while being transported in the septic tank vehicle in the Patancheru-Tellapur area. Two individuals were arrested, and the vehicle was confiscated as part of the operation. Further details are awaited.

Hyderabad Police Arrest Ganja Peddler, Seize 10.30 Kg of Ganja

In another operation, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW), along with the Tukaramgate Police, arrested a ganja peddler and seized 10.30 kg of ganja on March 3, 2025. The arrested individual, Babhuti Bhushan Palai, also known as Raju, is a native of Ganjam District, Odisha. In addition to the ganja, police recovered a Hero Splendor motorcycle, a weighing machine, a mobile phone, and Rs. 1,210 in cash.

The operation took place within the Tukaramgate Police Station limits, and Bhushan Palai has been charged under sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(c), 27(A), and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985. According to the police, Bhushan Palai had been involved in the drug trade for the past six months. He had been sourcing ganja from a supplier named Rahul, also from Ganjam (currently absconding), purchasing it at Rs. 5,000 per kg and selling it at a higher price in Hyderabad.

Bhushan Palai, who moved to Hyderabad in 2007 in search of work, initially worked as a construction laborer before taking up jobs as a Zomato delivery boy and a JCB crane driver. He reportedly noticed that some construction workers were using ganja, which led him to enter the drug trade. He began buying ganja from Rahul in Odisha and smuggling it into Hyderabad to sell at construction sites, making a profit of Rs. 15,000 per kg.

The seized ganja included three 2-kg bricks, 900 grams in a blue cover, 3.25 kg in 19 black covers, and 160 grams in a black cover. Police also confiscated Palai’s Hero Splendor bike, a weighing machine, and a Samsung Galaxy A14 mobile phone.

The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing has urged the public to avoid drugs, highlighting the rising abuse of substances and its damaging effects on individuals and society. Parents are advised to monitor their children’s activities to prevent involvement in drugs. Any information related to drug abuse can be reported to the HNEW at 8712661601.

The operation and subsequent arrests were carried out by G.S. Daniel, Inspector, HNEW, C. Venkata Ramulu, SI of Police, and staff from HNEW, along with Maloth Shanker, SHO, and Kiran Kumar Reddy, SI of Tukaramgate Police Station.
