Gang Arrested After Foiled Attempt to Steal Rs. 950 Crore fictitious Black Money
Hyderabad:In a peculiar twist, a group of robbers, misled by wild rumors, attempted to loot what they believed to be a stash of Rs. 950 crore in black money from the residence of a chocolate company owner. The ill-fated robbery attempt was caught on CCTV cameras, leading to the swift arrest of the culprits by the Rachakonda police.
The arrested accused were identified as Karasani Sekhar Reddy, Peddi Srinivas, Jackie Lakhani, Mohammad Adil, Sawood Hashmi, Syed Ismail, Raheem Ullah Khan, Akbar Khan, Md. Jaffer, Shameem Mulla, Mohammad Mudasir, and MD Maimud.
The incident unfolded late at night on the 10th of this month in the jurisdiction of Adibatla Police Station in Hyderabad. A 15-member gang attacked a chocolate company owner’s house at Adibatla to loot Rs 950 crore black money stashed at his house. The robbers, acting on baseless information, targeted the home under the false belief that it harbored an immense hidden fortune.
Watchman’s key role
Explaining the series of events which led to botched plan, Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Maheshwaram zone, D Sunitha Reddy said, “Bogini Jangaiah resident of Brahmanpally colluded with Shekar Reddy and Mahamood and they got to know about the black money being stacked in the complaint residence through a watchman who previously worked in the complaint residence”.
She further added, Subsequently they hatched a plan, however, before committing the offense, the accused wasn’t sure about the veracity of the claims regarding the blackmany. Hence, he roped in a pujari to conduct rituals and verify the information. However the pujari didn’t turn up for the task. Following which the accused took the help of another accused Peddi Srinivas who introduced Razak, a resident of Vijayawada to conduct the task. Razak through his contact stated the task of verifying the information and Razak through his contact caught hold of a manger working in the complaint’s chocolate factory who confirmed the presence of black money in the residence. Bogini Jangaiah, Shekar Reddy, Mahamood, Srinivas, Razak conducted a recce at the residence of complaint and roped in eight members from Old City to rob the houses.
Initially the accused attempted a robbery on 4th june however they did not succeed and withdrew from the scene. As there was no complaint registered, the accused again planned to rob the residence on June 11, said DCP in a press meet.
Police further revealed that the suspects procured even the material that is used for the making of fake currency and intended to place them in the complainants house, to make it seem like he is involved in the fake currency making. Police added that the intention behind this is that the complainant would not report it to the police. However, all the efforts went in vain.
Based on the complaint, Adibatla police booked a case and started investigation and nabbed the accused. All the arrested accused were sent to judicial custody.
