Fake GOs Used to Target ₹720 Crore Land Near Gandipet

HYDERABAD: Fraudsters allegedly created fake Government Orders (GOs) and circulated them through WhatsApp to revenue officials and private entities in an attempt to claim 9.28 acres of government land in Gandipet mandal.
The alleged fraud came to light after locals informed revenue officials that there was no official communication from the government regarding the issuance of a no-objection certificate (NOC). Following the complaint, Gandipet Tahsildar N. Srinivas Reddy lodged a complaint with Narsingi police.
The land is located about 1 km from Gandipet Lake and around 3 km from the Outer Ring Road (ORR). Land prices in the area are estimated at ₹70 crore to ₹80 crore per acre. Officials suspect the accused targeted land worth nearly ₹720 crore.
Police probe role of land-grab network
Investigators found that the accused allegedly created forged GOs numbered 552 to 558 in the names of five individuals for parcels ranging from one acre to two acres in Survey No. 18.
Police suspect the fake documents were prepared to obtain official recognition of ownership and facilitate the transfer of the land. Investigators are examining who masterminded the operation and whether an organised land-grab network is involved.
Revenue officials alerted after local complaints
According to police, the accused appeared to have factored in the area’s strategic location near Kokapet Golden Mile, the ORR and the Trumpet Junction while targeting the land.
Narsingi Inspector Harikrishna Reddy said the individuals named in the First Information Report (FIR) would be questioned. Police are also investigating whether others were involved in the alleged conspiracy.
