Video: Gandhi statue vandalized with burning firecrackers in Bowenpally
Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, miscreants vandalized a statue of Mahatma Gandhi by using it to burst crackers during the Diwali festival. The incident took place under the limits of Bowenpally police station.
A video of youths placing firecrackers in the mouth of the statue’s bust and lighting them up is being widely shared on social media. Several netizens have described it as a deplorable act and urged the perpetrators to respect the legacy of the Father of the Nation. Some users have started tagging the police on the viral video requesting action against the miscreants.
BRS leader Kirshank Manne shared the viral video on his X handle and requested the Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand to ‘take suo motu action on this indecent act’. He also added that ‘it has become a fashion to insult the Father of this Nation’.
Meanwhile, Bowenpally police have taken four persons into custody for their involvement in the desecration of the Gandhi statue. The police officials are seeking legal opinion before filing an FIR in the case.
