Gachibowli constable threatens food court owner with gun
HYDERABAD: A constable allegedly threatened a food court owner with a gun after demanding a reduction in his food bill at Gachibowli in Hyderabad’s IT corridor.
The incident involved Vivek, an Armed Reserve (AR) constable attached to the Hyderabad Commissionerate and currently serving in an anti-snatching team. According to police, he visited Delight Food Court near DLF IT Park in Gachibowli at around 3 am on Wednesday.
Owner seeks identity card after bill argument
After consuming food, Vivek was billed ₹175. He allegedly argued with food court owner Manish, claiming he was a police officer and demanding that the bill be reduced.
When the owner asked him to show his identity card, the constable allegedly took out his firearm and created a scene. Witnesses said he questioned why an identity card was required despite identifying himself as a police officer.
Police detain constable after emergency call
The incident caused panic among customers, with several people reportedly leaving the premises in fear.
Following a Dial 100 call from the food court management, Gachibowli police reached the spot and took the constable into custody.
Gachibowli Inspector Balaraju said an inquiry was under way based on a complaint filed by the food court management. He added that the constable allegedly displayed his firearm because he was not carrying his identity card.
