Gachibowli: Policeman, bouncer injured as wanted burglar opens fire at Prism Pub to evade arrest

Hyderabad: A policeman sustained injuries after a suspected criminal opened fire at him at a pub in Gachibowli on Saturday night.
According to Cyberabad police, Madhapur CCS Head Constable Venkatrami Reddy was shot at by the suspect while trying to catch the wanted burglar, Battula Prabhakar. He is allegedly wanted in several house burglary cases.
Based on credible inputs, the Cyberabad CCS team had tracked him down to the popular nightclub Prism pub. The police warned him to surrender and attempted to nab him.
However, in an effort to escape, he pulled out a gun and fired two rounds at Constable Venkataram Reddy. One bullet struck the constable in the thigh, while a bouncer at the pub was also injured in the crossfire. Both were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the other policemen managed to nab Prabhakar and took him into custody. The shooting incident ended his dramatic run to evade capture nearly two years after he escaped from police custody in Visakhapatnam.
Battukla Prabhakar was first arrested by the police in Vizag in 2020. 26-year-old Prabhakar has been named as an accused in over 100 burglary or robbery cases across the Telugu states. He successfully pulled out a daring escape from police custody while he was being transported back to Vizag Central Jail from Anakapalle Court in March 2022.
Following his escape, a case was registered at Arilova Police Station. Since then Prabhakar has been on the run evading the capture while allegedly continuing his criminal activities.
