Friends of Snakes rescues 10,282 in around Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Friends of Snakes Society rescued a total of 10,282 snakes in Telangana in 2023, predominantly in and around Hyderabad, the organisation revealed on Monday. The Society rescued 22 distinct species, according to data revealed by Friends of Snakes.
The rescued snakes were categorized into several species, with the Spectacled Cobra being the most rescued (46%), followed by the Rat Snake (27%), the Checkered Keelback (10%), Russell’s Viper (4%), and the Bronzeback Tree Snake (4%)—the remaining nine percent consisted of other species.
