Listen to Story

Hyderabad: Four individuals, including the thief and the receivers, were arrested on December 25, 2024, for stealing vehicles from parking areas near government hospitals in Hyderabad.

The accused has been identified as 28-year-old Mohammed Sameer, son of Mohd Hasham. Mohammed Sameer is an A/C technician from Teegalakunta, Falaknuma, Hyderabad.

The stolen vehicle receivers have been identified as Mohammed Yousufuddin (20), Mohammed Moizuddin (25), and Mohammed Khaja Hussain (21), all residents of Musheerabad. They dismantled the stolen vehicles for parts, which were stored in their shops for later disposal.

Sameer was reportedly involved in a vehicle theft racket, targeting parking lots at Gandhi Hospital, Osmania Hospital, and the Government Unani Hospital in Charminar. He noticed the lack of surveillance cameras in these areas and exploited the opportunity to steal motorcycles. After stealing the vehicles, Sameer would drive them for a few days before selling them to scrap dealers in Musheerabad.

Sameer, born and raised in Kishan Bagh, Hyderabad, worked as a laborer before becoming an A/C technician. His addiction to alcohol and cannabis led him to commit thefts to fund his lavish lifestyle. The arrest followed an investigation led by Dr. B. Bala Swamy, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Zone), and J. Narsaiah, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Zone), under the leadership of V. Jayapal Reddy, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Chilkalguda Division).

The police recovered five stolen vehicles, as well as four vehicles that had been dismantled into spare parts. The total worth of the stolen property is estimated at Rs. 4 lakhs.

The police team involved in the arrest included Inspector B. Anudeep, Detective Inspector K. Ramesh Goud, S. Anjaneyulu (SI), and crime team members G. Naveen Kumar, C. Jagadish, Shaik Madar Basha, B. Ganesh, M. Vinay Kumar, and D. Krishna. The team will be rewarded for their efforts.
