Fountainhead Global School Celebrates World Environment Day With Community Rally And Meedikunta Lake Clean Up.

HYDERABAD/HYDERNAGAR: Fountainhead Global School marked World Environment Day, themed “Beat Plastic Pollution,” with a significant community initiative at Meedikunta lake, Hydernagar, near Miyapur metro station, Hyderabad. Students, led by Head of Institution(HOI) Sudha Rani Koyya, participated in a silent awareness rally around the local area, holding placards to promote environmental conservation.

Following the rally, the students in collaboration with SWAN (Save Water and Nature), and Ozone Run conducted a clean-up drive at Meedikunta Lake, a site they have been rejuvenating. The event saw active participation from students, teachers, and the community, resulting in a substantial amount of plastic and other trash being collected.

Meghana Musunuri, Founder of SWAN, actively participated, inspiring students with her commitment to the environment. The founders of Ozone Run also joined, adding their support and encouragement.

“Our students’ dedication to this cause is commendable. Together, we can inspire change and build a cleaner, greener future,” stated the Head of Institution of the school.

Fountainhead Global School continues to foster environmental awareness and responsibility among its students, reinforcing its commitment to holistic education and community engagement.

Impact of the revival effort at Meedikunta lake

The revival plan includes an entry gate from Mathrusree Nagar. “Earlier, there was no proper way to reach the lake,” Meghana explained. Meghana said that the area was surrounded by sewage water. The team has constructed a walkway around the lake and installed large sewage pipes. “We proudly say that we’ve seen a significant drop in dengue cases after the revival of the lake,” she added.

Earlier in conversation with hyderabadmail.com, Meghana Musunuri expressed her concern over lack of local support in this type activities.
