Former Telangana minister’s nephew charged in Hyderabad hit-and-run accident

HYDERABAD: A case has been filed against Agraj Reddy, the nephew of former Telangana minister Indra Kiran Reddy, at Kukatpally police station. He allegedly hit a two-wheeler while driving under the influence and in the wrong direction, causing severe injuries to two riders on the bike.
According to the complainant, Surender Kumar Gehlot, was riding in his car with Dhuruchand and Banwarilal while returning from the second movie show at 1:30 am on January 7, 2024.
A car from the wrong direction collided with the bike near Forum Mall in KPHB colony while approaching the U-turn. The injured victims were swiftly shifted to Holistic Hospital. Banwarilal, the bike rider, underwent knee surgery on Sunday for a left leg fracture and facial injuries. Dhuruchand, the pillion rider, suffered a severe head injury and remained unconscious. Dhuruchand’s health condition is currently critical.
According to the investigating officer, SI P Srinivasulu, “Agraj Reddy, the accused, is an IT employee in the United States. He was driving under the influence of alcohol as he returned from a pub when his car (AP07E3839) moved in the wrong direction and crashed with the two-wheeler (AP08FE4711).”
Cases were filed against the accused Agraj Reddy under Section 337 of the Indian Penal Code (causing hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others), as well as for driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving. Agraj Reddy was arrested and released on station bail.
