Former IPS officer A.K. Khan’s son booked in ₹50 lakh cheating case
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad police have booked Mohsin Khan, son of former IPS officer A.K. Khan, in a case involving allegations of cheating, assault and criminal intimidation following a complaint by film producer Venkata Anish Reddy.
According to the complaint, Anish Reddy has been producing the film Maharagni for more than two years. While looking for investors for the project, he came into contact with Mohsin Khan and Tabrez at the Sunlit Group office in Prashasan Nagar, Jubilee Hills.
The complainant alleged that in August 2025, he paid Mohsin Khan ₹25 lakh after being assured that investors would be introduced for the film. He further alleged that he paid another ₹25 lakh to Tabrez in three instalments for the same purpose.
However, the complainant said that neither Mohsin Khan nor Tabrez introduced any investors despite repeated assurances. He alleged that whenever he sought an update or demanded the return of his money, they gave different excuses.
Complainant alleges assault at office
The complaint states that on July 1, 2026, at about 15.10 IST, Anish Reddy visited the Sunlit Group office in Prashasan Nagar to demand that the promised investors be introduced or that his money be returned.
According to the complaint, Mohsin Khan took him into a room and allegedly said, “Will you demand money? Let’s see what you will do,” before restraining him. The complainant further alleged that bouncers brandished weapons to intimidate him, that Mohsin punched him in the jaw, and that the bouncers assaulted him. He also alleged that Tabrez participated in the confrontation over a phone call with Mohsin.
Case registered under BNS provisions
Police have registered a case against Mohsin Khan and others under Sections 12(2), 115(2), 352, 351(2) read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Mohsin Khan is the son-in-law of Congress leader Shabbir Ali. Tabrez is reported to be a relative of the Congress leader.
The allegations are based on the complainant’s version. Police are investigating the case.
