Forest officials arrest three for wild boar poaching in Mancherial

MANCHERIAL: Forest officials conducted raids in Thatraposhagudem village of Dandepally mandal in Mancherial district on charges of illegal hunting, cooking and consumption of a wild boar, leading to the arrest of three persons.

The operation was carried out by Sushma Rao, Forest Range Officer, Tadlapet, along with Mamatha, Deputy Range Officer, and Raheemuddin, Forest Beat Officer, following credible information about the offence.

The raids were conducted at the residences of Gaddam Bheemaiah, Thatra Bheemaiah and Kothapalli Posham. Officials confirmed that all three were directly involved in the illegal activity.

Wild boar meat was seized from the houses of Gaddam Bheemaiah and Thatra Bheemaiah during the searches, officials said.

The offence is a violation of provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. The accused were produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate, Luxettipet, and were remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.

They were lodged in Luxettipet Jail, forest officials added.
