Hyderabad: A task force from the Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana, conducted inspections in the Sainikpuri area on August 30, 2024, and uncovered multiple food safety violations at local food establishments.

Rasa Foods, Sainikpuri

During the inspection at Rasa Foods, the officials discovered that the water analysis report for the RO water used in food preparation was missing. Additionally, windows and doors were found to be open and lacked insect-proof screens. Some food items stored in refrigerators were covered but not labelled. Further, inspection revealed that dust bins were found open and lacked proper lids. The store room was found very clumsy and unhygienic, with food and non-food items stored together. Four packets of expired peeled baby corn were identified and subsequently discarded.

Reliance Restaurant and Bar, Sainikpuri

The inspection at Reliance Restaurant and Bar revealed several issues, including the absence of pest control records and medical fitness certificates. Drains were found open and stagnant, and dust bins were uncovered. Windows were left open and did not have insect-proof screens. Additionally, stored food items in the refrigerator were not covered or labelled. Synthetic food colours, suspected of being used in non-vegetarian dishes, were promptly discarded. Food handlers were also found not wearing hair caps or aprons.

The Joint Al Mandi, Sainikpuri

The inspection at The Joint Al Mandi found that a true copy of the FSSAI license was not displayed on the premises. Medical fitness certificates for food handlers were absent. Windows and doors were not closed and lacked insect-proof screens. The kitchen flooring was found as patchy, with broken tiles. Food items in the refrigerator were covered but not labelled. Food handlers were seen without gloves. Expired food items such as rice flour, masala powder, and synthetic vinegar were thrown away. Also, synthetic food colors suspected of being used in non-vegetarian food were discarded.

The food safety task force has initiated necessary actions against the establishments found to be violating food safety regulations. The authorities will continue to monitor food safety standards in the city.
