Food Safety Violations Nagole Restaurants

Nagole: The Telangana State Commissioner of Food Safety’s Task Force team conducted surprise inspections of multiple restaurants in the Nagole area on November 12, 2024, uncovering multiple food safety violations.

Dasara Restaurant, Nagole:

At Dasara Restaurant, the Task Force found that the FSSAI license was not displayed, and expired food items, including 5 kg of mutton lamb chops with a “Use by” date of 08/11/2024, were found and discarded. In addition, several expired spices such as Periperi Sprinkler, Minar Spice Mace, Black Salt, Turmeric Powder, Chat Masala, and Shezwan Sauce were seized and discarded on the spot.

The restaurant also failed to maintain essential records, including pest control logs, medical fitness certificates for food handlers, and water analysis reports. Inspectors noted that doors and windows were not fitted with insect-proof screens, and water stagnation was observed in the drains.

Dust bins were found uncovered, and food items in refrigerators were not labelled or stored according to the First-In-First-Out (FIFO) method. No temperature records for the refrigerators were found, and several food handlers were observed working without hair caps.

Navarasa Restaurant, Nagole:

At Navarasa Restaurant, the FSSAI license was displayed, and food handlers were observed wearing head caps, gloves, and aprons. However, the restaurant lacked medical fitness certificates for food handlers and water analysis reports for the Reverse Osmosis (RO) water used in food preparation.

Additionally, food items in the refrigerators were covered and labelled, but none had “Use by” dates. A batch of milk packets (25 liters) was found to be expired, with a “Use by” date of 11/11/2024.

Samrat Restaurant and Bar, Nagole:

At Samrat Restaurant and Bar, the FSSAI license was not displayed, and expired food items including bread packets, buns, and crispy cajun breeding mix were found and discarded. Inspectors also discovered synthetic food colours suspected to be used in non-vegetarian items and discarded them.

The premises had a live cockroach infestation in the storeroom. Like the other establishments, Samrat Restaurant lacked medical fitness certificates and water analysis reports. The kitchen was not equipped with insect-proof screens, and food items were found uncovered and unlabelled. No temperature records for refrigerators were available.
