Hyderabad: The Telangana State Commissioner of Food Safety’s Task Force conducted surprise inspections at several food establishments in the Gachibowli area on December 19, 2024. The inspections uncovered several violations of food safety norms and regulations at The Nawaabs Restaurant, Berlin Restaurant and Club in Atrium Mall, and La Vie En Rose Cafe in Indira Nagar, Gachibowli.

The Nawaabs Restaurant

During the raid at The Nawaabs Restaurant, food safety officials found significant violations, including the absence of water analysis reports, medical records, and FoSTaC training certificates for food handlers.

The kitchen was found to be unsanitary, with a blocked drain causing water stagnation. Additionally, the kitchen’s windows and doors lacked insect-proof screens. Evidence of a suspected rodent infestation was also discovered, with rodent excreta found in the store room.

Other violations included unlabeled raw chicken and mutton in the refrigerator, as well as unlabeled onion powder (2 kg) and Peri Peri mix (2 kg) found in the store. Open dustbins were also observed in the kitchen.

Berlin Restaurant and Club, Atrium Mall

The inspection at Berlin Restaurant and Club revealed several safety and hygiene concerns. The establishment doesn’t have essential documents, including water analysis reports, pest control records, medical records, and FoSTaC training certificates for food handlers.

Expired products were found in both the kitchen and store, including items like Apple Cider Vinegar, Peanut Butter, Mushrooms, Chinese spice powder, Sesame Oil, Madras curry powder, Cajun spice ginger powder, sweet corn, and Blueberry Bamboo shoots. These expired items were immediately discarded.

Other violations included unlabeled food items in the refrigerator, open dustbins in the kitchen, and the improper storage of cleaning solutions alongside raw food materials. Additionally, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items were found stored together in the same refrigerator.

La Vie En Rose Cafe, Indira Nagar

The inspection revealed that the FSSAI license was displayed prominently at La Vie En Rose Cafe, and pest control records and medical fitness certificates for food handlers were available. However, the kitchen was found to lack insect-proof screens on both the windows and doors.

Other issues included a slippery kitchen floor and used oil that had not been checked for total polar compounds and was suspected of being used beyond the permissible limit.

In the cake preparation area, the ceiling and walls showed signs of flaking paint, with particles shedding into the environment. Additionally, some raw materials in the store were not labeled.
