Food safety officials inspecting seized cooking oil, sev and potato chips at a Nagole food manufacturing unit.

HYDERABAD: Acting on a news report published in a newspaper, the Food Safety Department’s Flying Squad inspected M/s Balaji Pheni & Namkeen Unit at Nagole and detected multiple violations during the inspection.

Officials seized 150 kg of cooking oil, 720 kg of sev and 120 kg of potato chips from the unit. The total quantity of seized food items and oil was 990 kg.

Notices to be issued under Food Safety Act

Food safety officials said notices are being issued to the unit. Adjudication proceedings will be initiated under the Food Safety and Standards Act based on the violations observed during the inspection.

The inspection was conducted following reports highlighting concerns over food safety practices at the establishment.

Consumers urged to buy from licensed establishments

The department advised consumers to purchase snacks, namkeen and other food products only from licensed establishments.

Officials also urged buyers to check product quality, packaging and expiry details before consumption to ensure food safety.
